Do's and don'ts
TAKING CARE OF YOUR WIGS ALSO MEANS TAKING THESE PRECAUTIONS...
Avoid heat:
- Steam from boiling water
- A preheated oven
- Curling iron
- Blow dryer
- Clothes dryer
- Cigarette lighter
- Barbeque grill
- Any heated hair appliances
Never brush or touch your wig when it is wet from:
- Water
- Steam
- Rain
- Snow
- Excessive wig spray
- Perspiration
Note: In these situations don't touch your wig until it is dry.
Friction from the following will also damage wig fiber:
- Upholstered furniture
- High collars
- Bed pillows
Note: This kind of frizzing is a result of ordinary use and is considered normal wear and tear.
CHECKLIST FOR PROPER WIG HANDLING
- Shake and brush your new wig - don't be shy about it.
- Prepare your own hair using pin curls, spray, or a wig cap liner. This creates an even, natural look under your wig.
- When you put on a wig, remember to position the ear tabs in front of the ears. This ensures that the wig is centered.
- Check the fit and adjust the velcro tabs, if needed.
- Finally, tuck in any stray hairs.
CHECKLIST FOR PROPER CARE
- Brush your wig before washing to remove tangles and spray buildup.
- Use only wig shampoo.
- Handle your wig gently: never rub, twist, or wring.
- Air dry your wig by hanging it loosely.
- Use wig conditioner with Kaneka Oil for luster and mobility.
CHECKLIST FOR STYLING TECHNIQUES
- Use a chinstrap or blockhead.
- Brush according to style: short strokes on wigs with waves and curls, long strokes on smooth styles, and lifting movements with a pic comb on styles with ringlet curls.
- Use conditioner and wig spray lightly on the areas you touched up.
CHECKLIST FOR EXTENDING WIG LIFE
- Use only wig care products; they are gentle on a wig's synthetic fiber.
- Avoid damaging your wig from heat, combing when wet or friction.
