Need help with color?
You choose your clothes to match your mood and your personality, so why
not do the same with your hair color? The beauty of wearing a wig is that
you can experiment with color without commitment.
Are you ready? It’s time to have fun with your hair!
Our large selection of colors can be both exciting and a little overwhelming
for a new wig wearer. We are here to step you through the process.
First, take note of the color collection your style is available in. The Wig
Company uses professional colorists to develop all of our color collections.
Each color is designed with a blend of fiber shades to provide a rich,
natural-looking color you’ll be proud to call your own.
We recommend you choose a shade that looks great with your skin tone
and eye color. For the most natural look, choose a color that’s close to
your own or slightly lighter. As we age, our skin tone tends to look a little
washed out, but choosing the right hair color can help us look younger.
Our advice: If you’re a brunette, lighten your base color one shade; if
you’re a blonde, go one shade darker.
We consult professional stylists on a regular basis and ask how they advise
their clients on choosing color. Here are a few tips they provided to take
into consideration:
Avoid going more than two shades lighter or darker than your
natural hair color when choosing a wig. Going too light or too
dark will be dramatic, but might not be the best result for you. If
you want to be bold, consider making gradual changes by going
lighter or darker a little at a time. The great advantage of wearing
wigs is that you can easily get to the color you want without
chemically damaging your hair.
When going blonde, consider what color your hair was when
you were a child. If you were blonde when you were a little girl,
chances are blonde will also work for you as an adult. Go a little
darker than the shade you used to be in order to look best with
current your skin tone.
Golden highlights brighten your complexion and make you look
more youthful. If your hair is auburn, choose copper highlights.
Natural brunettes look best with caramel, and blondes look best
with honey tones. Wig fibers are blended with these naturallooking
highlights built in, making it easier to choose the right
tone for your complexion.
If you’re unsure about what color to choose, we’re here to help. In fact, we
offer a Free Color Matching Service. Simply cut a sample from the front or
top of your hair, or one from a favorite wig, and mail it to us. We’ll need a
fairly thick sample – at least 1½” long. Then under professional lighting,
we’ll select a wig color that’s the best match to your hair.
